In the centuries since samurai found their way to the stars, much has changed. But many things also remain the same: old customs, reverence for the Emperor, ancient etiquette, and traditional festivals would be recognizable to the ancestors of the clans scattered among the stars.
Every samurai hopes to save the funds for a pilgrimage, at least once in their lifetime, to Rokugan, home of the Empire. Many try to do this during the annual Bon Festival, which is observed all across the Empire of Emerald Stars, to sweep the graves of their most ancient ancestors and present offerings for their comfort and approval in Yomi. The homeworld is a place of carefully tended relics, lovingly restored palaces, and spirits that are found nowhere else.
This is tale of one group of pilgrims, journeying to the wild Phoenix forests to offer their respects, and the unusual encounters and adventures that befall them.
