Mountains surround the Valley of the Centipede, dotted with boulders and caves. These caves are sometimes inhabited by monks, peasant vagabonds, or wild animals. Many large centipedes infest the rocky ground, giving the valley its name.
The greatest of the mountains is Yama sano Amaterasu, a snow-covered peak with steep, rocky slopes that towers over the northern end of the valley. A golden shrine dedicated to Amaterasu is at the summit of the Mountain of the Sun Goddess. This shrine is not accessible to player characters (unless permitted by a game event).
