The shrine maiden, Moshi Fuyumi, is walking around town in the morning, along with a discreet but conscientious Lion bodyguard, ostensibly there “for her protection.”
Perhaps she has invited you to accompany her, or perhaps you encounter her by chance. She asks for a small favor…
Challenge:
You may automatically join this event if you satisfy any of:
- Member of the Centipede clan
- Ally: Moshi Fuyumi
- Hero of the People
In these cases, Moshi Fuyumi has invited you to accompany her as she walks around the little village surrounding Kyuden Moshi.
Otherwise, you may encounter Fuyumi by chance. She is not expecting to meet you, so you must roll AWA/Etiquette (Courtesy) TN15 to come up with a polite excuse to become involved in her business. If you succeed, you join the event. If you fail, you come across as nosy and rude, suffering an honor loss for a Minor Breach of Etiquette, and cannot join this event. (But you may join a different event.)
Focus:
While walking around town, Moshi Fuyumi asks for your help with a small favor. Fuyumi wishes to know what became of Hitaro, a ronin warrior that she was once fond of. but who vanished during the Lion invasion of Tani Senshio. She has made her own discreet inquiries, but these have come to nothing so far.
You can do one of:
- Ask townspeople about Hitaro. PER or AWA/Investigation (Interrogation) TN15. You gain 1 FR if you have Ally: Akane.
- Ask soldiers about the battle for Tani Senshio. PER or AWA/Investigation (Interrogation) TN15. You gain 1 FR if you have Ally: Matsu Shigenobu.
- Read historical records about the battle for Tani Senshio. INT/Lore: History, Lore: Lion or Lore: Centipede TN20.
- Use criminal connections to find out about Hitaro. AWA/Lore: Underworld TN15 or WIL/Intimidation TN15 and suffer honor loss for using a Low Skill. You gain 1 FR if you have Spy Networks.
- Ask Ikoma Kado about Hitaro. If you have Ally: Ikoma Kado, you may automatically succeed at this focus attempt as Kado remembers him well.
Kasuga technique helps with asking townspeople or using criminal connections, but does not help with the other rolls.
Strike:
After investigating the matter, you try to put together the clues to determine what became of Hitaro the ronin.
Roll PER/Investigation TN15.
You gain 1 FR for each other player who succeeded at a focus attempt different than your own.
If you did not succeed at your focus attempt, you must call a raise for no effect.
Rewards:
If you succeed, you gain 1xp and discover what happened to Hitaro the ronin; Fuyumi is grateful, and this information may be useful in a later event.
If you succeed with 1 raise, in addition to the above, you may choose to either gain 1 rank of Investigation or gain Moshi Fuyumi as a 1 influence, 1 devotion ally (or increase devotion by 1).
If you succeed with 2 raises, in addition to the above, you also have a good idea of exactly where Hitaro is.
If you fail, you gain 1xp but are only able to gather unsupported rumors about Hitaro. There is no additional penalty for failed raises.
