Kasuga Tsukaisute Tries to Do a Favor for Fuyumi (D2M)

[Kasuga Tsukaisute]

Having received the kind invitation from the priestess, Tsukaisute gladly joins her little walkabout. As he does so, she notes to him her desire to find out a bit more about an old friend who had been in the area, and Tsukaisute, knowing that the heimin see and hear everything, asks around a bit. His winning ways and easy demeanor get him a fair bit of information--too much for him to parse meaningfully in the event.

Good job, idiot. You'll never get anywhere if you can't keep your damned head in the game.

He does manage to come away with some decent dumplings, however, sharing them readily with an ally he worries will soon find no more use for him...

Fuyumi is grateful for the dumplings, but a little disappointed that the search for Hitaro came to naught.

"I had hopes," she admits between bites of dumpling. "So many of the peasants remembered seeing him! Ah well, perhaps it was not meant to be. Such is karma."

[Kasuga Tsukaisute]

Tsukaisute nods in agreement.

"Moshi-miko knows more of such than I, to be sure. And I will keep the name in mind; there are other ears that have heard it, other lips that might speak it."

He has a dumpling, himself.

"I take it that such food as this is not normally on offer in the temples."

[Narrator]

"Not very often," Fuyumi admits ruefully. "Is it so obvious? In the temples, we are used to plainer fare. It does give us reason to be grateful for festival days, though; I understand the Lion... that is... the Governor is planning a great feast for the Bon Festival."

[Kasuga Tsukaisute]

"Hm. That would be...interesting to see. The Lion are noted for their devotion to their ancestors, are they not?"

There is a glance towards the chaperones, but only that.
